There aren’t many forests in Manchester!
Forest Church is a label for a new way of ‘doing church’ which seeks to re-connect us to the physical, natural environment which we are privileged to call home.
Manchester was the home of the Industrial Revolution. This was a time in which humanity – mostly male humanity – sought to impose its will upon the natural world; to ‘conquer’ and ‘exploit’ nature. Whilst this brought undoubted social and technological benefits, it has also left us alienated from the planet – and facing an ecological crisis which threatens to destroy both humanity and the planet on which we live.
Forest Church seeks to heal this division, to reconnect us with our maker and to recognise that we are one small part of creation.
