Who Owns The Land?

Lyme Park is beautiful. I grew up running around it. But it does raise some uncomfortable questions. The luxurious hall was at the heart of an unjust economic system in which the so-called Landed Gentry claimed ‘ownership’ of the land. How can human beings, who are only on this planet for four score years and ten – the blink of god’s eye – claim to ‘own’ the hills and mountains.

So, as we walk up the track, we’ll think about our relationship with the land. We’ll stop and do some all-age activities and we’ll pray together.

We won’t be cooking this time, but as usual, bring some food with you to share.

In terms of transport, not everyone has access to a car. The 8:53 out of Piccadilly gets in to Poynton at 9:12. That is about 3 miles from the West Gate. I’d be happy to collect anyone from the station and ferry you up (and back again). Sadly, I don’t have access to a car seat or booster seat, but if you can bring one, that would be great. Drop me a message on Facebook if you would like a lift.
